Tattoos have been one of the best outward forms of expression for centuries. From celebrities and athletes to tribes in the smallest corners of the world, people often look for ways to display their personalities, memories, and stories with the world. There are times, though, when you wish your past wasn’t so permanent.
At Results Medical Aesthetics & Wellness, Dr. Laura Bilbruck and our team understand that your tattoo may drudge up painful memories, be an eyesore, or simply be insignificant now. Whatever the case, our powerful tattoo removal system can help you get rid of your unwanted tattoo.
Background on tattoos
You might be surprised to know that the modern tattooing process hasn’t changed much. Inspired by Thomas Edison’s autographic printer, Samuel O’Reilly first invented the tattoo machine in the 1800s. O’Reilly tweaked Edison’s system to work on soft surfaces like the skin instead of engraving hard metal surfaces.
As they say — if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. The same applied to O’Reilly’s tattooing process. Your local tattoo artist is likely still using this hundreds-year-old technology.
It’s so effective because it doesn’t simply print an image on your skin, but injects ink into the deepest layers of your skin, or the dermis. Your skin cells are more stable and willing to hold onto ink in this layer of your skin, which is why tattoos can be difficult to remove.
Removing your tattoo can be tricky, but it’s certainly not impossible.
The basics of tattoo removal
In order to remove a tattoo, the ink particles in your skin must be destroyed.
To do that, we use a device called a Q-switched laser. Q-switched lasers emit high-intensity pulses of light that penetrate your skin and shatter the ink particles without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Once shattered, your body naturally processes and removes the ink particles out of your system.
Why we love tattoo removal
Don’t get us wrong; there are plenty of beautiful and meaningful tattoos. There are some, however, that just don’t have a place in your life anymore. That’s why we love our tattoo removal system — it gives our clients a fresh start.
Here are just a few more reasons why we think you should consider removing your tattoo with us.
It’s not painful
Tattoo removal can be uncomfortable, but it’s noninvasive, nonsurgical, and requires little to no downtime. We can provide medical-grade numbing creams to keep you comfortable during your procedure.
You may notice some slight discoloration, redness, or swelling around your tattoo after treatment, but these side effects are mild and typically go away after a few days.
It’s effective
While getting rid of a tattoo requires more than one laser removal treatment, you’ll start to see results after your first few treatments. Depending on the size, color, and location of your tattoo, you’ll likely need multiple treatments to get the results you want.
This is especially true if your tattoo has brighter colors like aqua, orange, yellow, pink, or light blue. Colors like black, gray, green, and darker blue are much easier to remove.
There is a chance that you can’t completely remove the tattoo even with many treatments. You may end up with a scar or pigmentation changes on your skin. We proceed cautiously throughout the entire tattoo removal process to keep your skin as protected as possible from damage.
It’s versatile
The best part about tattoo removal is that just about anyone can get a tattoo removed from any part of their body, with a few exceptions. You can even go through this process if you’d simply like to lighten your tattoo by a few shades.
Talk with Dr. Bilbruck about any concerns you might have and discuss your medical history with her. She can help you determine your tattoo removal options.
You may have heard that the past can never be erased. We don’t believe that at Results Medical Aesthetics & Wellness. Let us give you and your skin a second chance.
