What is Voluma?

As we age, our face will naturally lose volume, specifically in the cheek area and midface. Voluma is an FDA-approved filler that is a part of the Juvéderm collection of fillers. It is formulated to restore volume beneath the skin’s surface, providing lift, contour, and a more youthful appearance to the cheek area. Created with hyaluronic acid (HA), it works by attracting hydration as well as stimulating the production of collagen in the skin to maintain your skin’s elasticity and structure.

Voluma Treatment

Before your Voluma treatment, you will need to schedule a consultation appointment with Dr. Bilbruck. During this appointment, she will evaluate your facial structure and review your medical history to create a personalized treatment plan for you.

To begin treatment, the skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to ensure you are comfortable during injections. Voluma will then be skillfully injected into the specified areas to restore youthful volume. For most patients, treatment can take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.

Voluma Results

Following treatment, you may experience mild swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness, and itching at the injection sites. Side effects will resolve with time. While there is no downtime required, we do recommend that you avoid strenuous physical activity, prolonged sun exposure, and alcohol consumption for 24 hours after treatment for the best results. Voluma provides natural-looking results for up to two years.

Frequently Asked Questions about Voluma

Does Voluma lift the face?

Voluma is most commonly used as a cheek filler, but its plumping properties can result in a subtly lifted look to your overall face.

How many syringes of Voluma do I need?

The severity of your skin concerns and laxity are the biggest determining factors in how much Voluma is needed. Usually, patients require between two and four syringes for optimal results.

What happens to Voluma injections over time?

If you stop regular Voluma maintenance, the solution will slowly be metabolized and disappear. Without the solution's prevention methods, new wrinkles will begin to emerge.

What should be avoided after Voluma treatments?

For 24 hours after Voluma treatments, you should avoid strenuous activity and exercise. You should also avoid touching the treatment area or applying any products.
