What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive treatment to gently exfoliate the skin using a diamond-tipped wand to remove the topmost layer of the skin. It works to thicken your collagen, resulting in a younger-looking complexion.

This treatment can address the following skin concerns:

• Age spots
• Hyperpigmentation
• Dull skin
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Acne and acne scars
• Large pore
• Blackheads

Who is a Candidate?

Healthy individuals with common skin issues or imperfections can often benefit from microdermabrasion. Those who have deep scars, undiagnosed lesions, warts on the face, active acne, active rosacea or eczema, or unstable diabetes should not receive this treatment. Treatment

Anesthesia is not required for microdermabrasion. To begin treatment, your skin will be cleansed and prepped. Next, a diamond-tip wand is gently moved across the skin to exfoliate. Moisturizer and sunscreen will then be applied to end the treatment. Each treatment lasts bout 30 minutes.

Recovery

Following microdermabrasion, you may experience mild tenderness, swelling, bruising, and redness. For a day or so after treatment, it may feel as if you have a minor sunburn. Be sure to apply sunscreen when outdoors, as your skin will be sensitive to the sun.

The number of treatments needed will depend on your individual skincare goals. Generally, patients can benefit from a series of 6 to 10 treatments, each spaced 7 to 14 days apart.
