What is an IPL Photofacial?

An intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacial is a treatment to improve the color and texture of the skin. This treatment uses cutting-edge technology to create firmer skin that’s more even in tone and texture. The light energy emitted by the intense pulsed light therapy handpiece will heat the upper layers of the skin, which is absorbed by the targeted areas, stimulating collagen production.

Who is a Candidate?

This skin rejuvenation treatment works best on those with a lighter skin tone, as darker skin tones are at a greater risk of pigmentation issues. You should not undergo this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain skin conditions, or are taking certain medications for other conditions. The best way to determine if this treatment is right for you is to schedule a consultation appointment at our office today.

IPL Photofacial Treatment

To begin these laser treatments, your skin will be cleansed, and a special gel will be applied to the treatment area. Topical numbing cream may also be applied before your IPL treatment. You will be given dark glasses to wear to protect your eyes from the light. Your technician will then pass the handheld IPL therapy device over the skin, which will produce fine light pulses. While treatment is not painful, some patients describe the feeling as a snapping rubber band.

IPL Photofacial Results

Following an IPL photofacial, you may feel as if you have a sunburn for 4 to 6 hours. Ice packs or cool washcloths can help to reduce any discomfort. Mild redness or bruising may last for a day or two. While you heal, avoid applying makeup if your skin is sensitive, wash your face with a sensitive skin cleanser, and protect your skin with sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

Most people receive between 3 and 7 skin treatments, each spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, depending on their desired outcomes.

So incredibly happy with my experience and results I achieved even after just one visit.

I had never had a facial before and they really took the time to explain the different services and the different steps to the facial. I immediately booked another facial and couldn’t be more excited to become a regular for them!

I cannot say enough good things about this place, the staff, and especially Dr. B.

She takes the time to spend with me, listens to my concerns, and encourages me that we can reach my goal. She has bent over backwards to take care of me. I can’t say enough good about her. Thanks so much.
