IPL - Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial Rejuvenation
IPL Photofacial rejuvenation is a non-abrasive and non-invasive rejuvenation of the skin using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Laser specialists at Results Medical Spa have years of experience and thousands of treatments using IPL. Photofacials reverse effects of sun damage, redness, and age spots on the face, hands, and body. With IPL, there is minimal recuperation time. Undergoing an IPL Photofacial, a patient can return to work or resume normal activities following treatment. Age and sun spots will darken, and then peel off over the next seven days. Patients notice a gradual, natural looking improvement. Furthermore, IPL Photofacial is safe for most skin types and tones.
IPL is used for a variety of skin care treatments:
- Hyper pigmentation, sun spot removal: Face and Body
- Skin tightening
- Rejuvenation
- Acne scars and uneven skin texture
- Treat face and body.
- Spider veins and diffuse redness reduction
- Small vein reduction
- Leg veins
How IPL Works
Intense Pulsed Light system utilizes a large spectrum of wavelengths direction on the skin. Different lenses are used, filtering light from different parts of the spectrum. Each band of the spectrum produces a wavelength ideal for different treatments, such as sun spot removal or lightening red veins. The IPL emit pulses of light onto the skin. The light is then absorbed by the pigment, converted into heat. This heat dissolves the cells responsible for the pigment, while surrounding, healthy cells are left unaffected.
What Should I Expect?
At your complimentary consultation, Results Medical Spa will determine the optimal treatment plan for your desired skin goal. Most patients require 4-6 treatments, approximately 3 weeks apart, for desired results. Patients should not tan (including artificially), since this can interfere with the IPL procedure. No anesthesia is necessary, although Results Medical Spa will provide a topical anesthetic if desired. The IPL directs a beam of light onto the skin. A flashing light, an audible tone, and a mild sensation on the skin indicates the pulse.
Immediately after treatment, you may feel a mild sunburn, with minor redness and possibly swelling, for 2-4 hours after treatment. If uncomfortable, this can be soothed with cold compresses or ice packs. The brown spots will the darken after treatment and gradually shed from the skin 1-2 weeks afterwards. Moisturizer with sunscreen should be applied immediately afterwards, continued through the duration of IPL Photofacial treatment sessions.
